Quite a lot of emails I recieve seem to be asking the same questions. So that can only mean one thing, I need an FAQ page! So here it is. Please have a good read through before you contact me. Keep in mind that this page will always be changing as I recieve new duplicate questions so check back once in a while before you ask me anything. Cheers!

What software do you use to create your wonderful work?
Definately the most common question I get asked. Here’s a rundown of what I use for what purposes:

  • Adobe Photoshop - Everything you see on this site was made entirely in Photoshop, no 3D software. However, the blue “vector art” piece was created in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Adobe Dreamweaver - Everything I code runs through this beast. Offering me everything I need from quick syntax selection to live FTP development. Definately one of my most used applications in my arsenal. However, I only code by hand, I do not use any WYSIWYG editor of any kind.
  • Adobe Flash - Occasionaly, I may post some flash work. I use Adobe Flash for all things animated.
  • 3D Studio Max - Again, I may post some 3D work in the future. So before the emails start flooding in, 3DSM is what I’ll be using.

Where did you learn all of your skills, did you go to college?
A popular question indeed. I’m actually 100% self-taught. I haven’t followed any graphic courses whatsoever. The apparent downside to this would be that I have no official qualifications, but I believe that if you are good enough, your work speaks for itself, not a piece of paper. And so far, that has worked out great for me :)

Something else I will add here is that, by following your own path of learning, you develop a much greater sense of originality due to the fact you are always creating things that YOU want to create. A lot of people who have degrees in graphic design may be good, but their work can be very “inside the box” with following the popular trends. I myself, hate trends. In fact, I don’t really like doing anything in life that’s already been done or is over-used. And some might say that, this way of thinking has lead me to having my own “signature style” so to speak. So my adivice, teach yourself! Be original! It pays off in the long run :)

Do you have any tutorials on how to create the things you do?
Yes, I am currently working on a series of tutorials which shall be released as soon as possible. I’ll post more information on the homepage as they come about.

A lot of your work has the word “Pure” on them. Why is this so?
“Pure” was the nickname I went by on my first graphics forum. It still remains a name I use, but only if “Lance” isn’t available. Most of my graphic friends still know me as Pure.
